Dignity & Sensitivity For Your Pet Through At Home Euthanasia
While we all wish our beloved pets could stay with us forever, there comes a time when we must make the heart-wrenching decision to say goodbye. I provide a peaceful, comforting alternative to a stressful clinic visit by allowing your pet to pass away in the familiarity and safety of their own home, surrounded by the people and environment they love.
Sophie Petts BVetMed MRCVS
I have been working in first opinion practice around Cheshire, North Staffordshire and Greater Manchester for over 15 years. I love working in general practice. In recent years I have also felt a huge a pull towards chronic pain management and end of life/palliative care for our pets. Finally, after having been in a privileged position to say goodbye to my own elderly labradors at home with their family, comfortable in their beds, I decided I would like to be able to offer this at home euthanasia service to everyone. It is never easy to make that final decision and say goodbye. I will be here to support you and help to make things as relaxed and peaceful as possible at such a crucial time.
Do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions about at home euthanasia, or if you would like to make an appointment.

FAQs
What is the process of at home pet euthanasia?
At home pet euthanasia involves a licensed veterinarian coming to your home to provide a peaceful, compassionate euthanasia service in the comfort of your pet’s familiar surroundings. The procedure includes sedation to ensure your pet feels no pain or anxiety.
How can I know if it’s the right time?
Deciding when to euthanise a pet is a personal and difficult decision. Signs it may be time include chronic pain, inability to eat or drink, loss of mobility, or severe decline in quality of life. You can discuss your pet’s condition with me to help assess their well-being.
What happens afterwards?
After the procedure, you can keep your pet for a private burial, or we can provide information and contact details for a private pet crematoria.
Can I stay with my pet during the procedure?
Yes, you are welcome to remain with your pet throughout the entire process to offer comfort and say your final goodbye. Many owners find this provides closure and reassurance that their pet is at peace.
How do I prepare for my pet’s appointment?
Preparing involves ensuring a quiet, comfortable space where your pet feels safe. You may want to have blankets, toys, or other comforting items nearby. I will guide you through each step to ensure the process is as gentle and peaceful as possible.
How long does the procedure process take?
The process typically takes about 30 to 60 minutes, depending on your pet’s condition and how much time you need for personal farewells. I will begin by administering a sedative to help your pet relax, followed by the euthanasia injection once they are fully at peace.
Is the procedure painful for my pet?
No, the procedure is designed to be completely painless. Your pet will first be sedated to ensure they are calm and free from anxiety. The euthanasia injection is quick and painless, allowing your pet to pass peacefully and without distress.
